Prospectors were gold miners who sifted through pan after pan in search of flecks of gold. They desired so much to become wealthy that they tirelessly repeated the same process day after day. The gold flecks were expected to stick to the sides of their rusty pans. When you are prospecting for your network marketing business opportunity, you are emulating that process. You sift through the waters of marketing leads over and over until you find the ones made of gold. The process does not necessarily have to be tiring and boring, but it does require perseverance and a discerning eye. If you were in the position of the miner, you might miss a nugget or two if you are not sure what you are looking for. There are networkers out there who may have a great prospect right in front of them but then let him or her go by accident.
Your MLM business has to be like the most effective pan for gold mining, which means it must be rough and rusty with experience. Miners at the time had no use for new pans which were far too smooth to retain any pieces of gold. You might want to keep that in mind if you are thinking of joining an MLM startup that is not yet backed with enough credibility. New MLMs are not for everyone, after all. With that kind of business experience, you can do your MLM prospecting. As you do your own prospecting, think of your MLM business leads as the flecks of gold that you want to see stuck to the sides of your pan. Think of your business opportunity as being represented by the rusty pan because it has been around long enough to have accrued the credibility that only adds up after much time and experience.
Realize that this requires patience and hard work. Miners invested countless hours trying to find as much gold as they could so they could accumulate any kind of wealth, and while you may not have to work as hard as they did, you can still expect to put in a few good hours as you perform your own MLM prospecting.
